Marshall Road Elementary School

Reading By 3rd Grade
Outcomes:
- The percentage of Multi Language Learners who pass the Grade 3 Reading SOL will increase by 5 percentage points from spring 2024 to spring 2025.
- The percentage of students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025."
Strategies:
- Improve integrity of implementation of new core curriculum, English Language Development program, and/or intervention programs by using FCPS-adopted resources with fidelity.

- Increase opportunities for students to develop oral language through pair and small group structures that promote engagement.
Elementary School Math
Outcomes:
- By the end of the 2024-25 school year the percentage of Students with Disabilities passing the G 3-6 Mathematics SOL will increase from 26% to 31%.
- By the end of the 2024-25 school year the percentage of students in grades 3-6 passing the Mathematics SOL will increase from 61% to 66%.
Strategies:
- Increase teacher's implementation strategies related to Shift 8: from looking for correct answers towards revealing student thinking.
- Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.
- Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.
Chronic Absenteeism
Outcomes:
- CA will decrease for the EOY rate of 17.5% to 12.9% in SY 2425.
Strategies:
- Schools will share multilingual attendance materials with families throughout the year to educate families regarding the importance of attendance for school success.
- Schools will implement practices to recognize good and improved attendance to reinforce attendance and strengthen student and family engagement.
- Teachers will use a variety of culturally-responsive practices and communication methods to provide supportive outreach to students and families when student attendance concerns arise.
Portrait of a Graduate
Outcomes:
- Quarterly, students will engage in PoG PoL reflections on a chosen skill from within the Critical and Creative Thinker and Global and Ethical Citizen attributes.
Strategies:
- Select a POG skill from the vertical articulation charts (Resource 1) to focus on with students and explicitly teach the skill; if at an IB school, select an ATL skill from the IB & POG Crosswalk (Resource 2) to focus on with students and explicitly teach the skill.
- Together with students, co-construct with a class what the skill looks and sounds like and make the skill visible (Resource 1; Resource 2 for IB schools) in the classroom.
- Utilize POG Reflection Cards (Resource 1) and Sentence Strips for Reflection (Resource 2) to create opportunities for students to reflect on growth in POG skills; if at an IB school, utilize ATL Reflection Cards and ATL Sentence Strips for Reflection (Resource 3).
